Healthy Tuna Patties

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans of tuna in water (drained thoroughly)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup ground oats (rolled oats ground or oat flour)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • A splash of fresh lemon juice (about 1 teaspoon)

Preparation Steps:

Step 1: Prepare the Tuna Mixture

  • Drain the canned tuna thoroughly, pressing lightly to remove excess water.
  • In a large bowl, combine the tuna, eggs, and ground oats. Mix well.
  • Add the finely chopped onion, minced garlic, and fresh parsley. Stir to combine.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Mix until the ingredients form a uniform, slightly sticky mixture.
  • If too wet, add more oats gradually until the mixture holds together well.

Step 2: Form the Patties

  • With clean hands, shape the mixture into small patties about 2-3 inches wide and 1/2 inch thick.
  • Try to make all patties similar in size for even cooking.

Step 3: Cook the Patties

  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil or cooking spray.
  • Place the patties carefully in the skillet without overcrowding.
  • Cook each side for 4-5 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Flip gently using a spatula to avoid breaking the patties.

Step 4: Serve

  • Remove the patties and place them on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  • Serve warm with your favorite side dishes like salad, vegetables, or a yogurt dip.

Enjoy your healthy, protein-rich tuna patties!
