Description:
Juicy, tender steak bites pan-seared in a rich garlic butter sauce served alongside pillowy cheese tortellini coated in a creamy Alfredo sauce. This decadent, restaurant-style dinner brings bold flavors and creamy comfort to your table in under 30 minutes.
Origin:
This dish is a fusion of Italian-American and steakhouse cuisines. The Alfredo tortellini brings classic Italian comfort, while garlic butter steak bites are inspired by American steakhouse flavors.
Ingredients (Quantity):
For the Garlic Butter Steak Bites:
1 lb (450g) sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized cubes
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 garlic cloves, minced
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
For the Creamy Alfredo Tortellini:
1 package (9 oz / 250g) refrigerated cheese tortellini
2 tablespoons butter
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup heavy cream
¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and pepper, to taste
Pinch of nutmeg (optional but recommended)
Ingredients (Optional):
Crushed red pepper flakes (for a spicy kick)
Mushrooms or spinach (for added texture and nutrients)
Lemon zest (for a fresh twist)
White wine (deglaze the pan for added flavor)
Instructions:
- Cook the Tortellini:
Boil tortellini according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Make the Alfredo Sauce:
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 2 tbsp butter and sauté 2 garlic cloves until fragrant.
Add the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth.
Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Toss with cooked tortellini. Keep warm.
- Cook the Steak Bites:
Pat steak cubes dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over high heat.
Sear steak bites in batches for 1-2 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
Lower heat, add butter and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 1 minute.
Return steak bites to the pan, toss in garlic butter for 1-2 minutes.
- Assemble & Serve:
Plate the creamy tortellini.
Spoon garlic butter steak bites on top or alongside.
Garnish with chopped parsley.
Tips for Success:
High heat for steak ensures a good sear without overcooking.
Do not overcrowd the pan when searing steak to maintain temperature and get that crust.
Use fresh tortellini for best texture and flavor.
Let the steak rest a minute or two after cooking to lock in juices.
Recommendations:
Pair with a Caesar salad or garlic bread for a complete meal.
Serve with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay.
Try adding sautéed mushrooms or asparagus for extra flavor.
